Lymphedema - Carlson ProCare Therapy

WHAT IS LYMPHEDEMA?

PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR LYMPHEDEMA

Lymphedema is a life-long condition requiring skilled management with the proper tools. Lymphedema does not have to define you. Research shows that the gold standard of care for treating lymphedema is to see a Lymphology Association of North America (LANA)-certified physical therapist for regular evaluation, monitoring, and treatment with manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and compression with garments.

Here at Carlson Procare, we have two certified lymphedema therapists located in our New Milford office. Treating lymphedema takes a whole-body approach using numerous tools and techniques including manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), compression therapy with garments and bandages, gentle exercise, and education for both the patient and their family. These complex physical therapy techniques are a critical part of the care for any lymphedema patient.
